Alright so I'm on act 3 on hell mode and I'm doing 50.5k dps with a one handed legendary dagger (lol I know just found it) and I had been previously running a two handed sword. The dagger upgrade was too bad ass not to equip (it jumped my dps up 20k), but I didn't have any other one handed weapons to dual weild at the time. I randomly picked up a shield and it auto-equipped it for me and it jumped my dps up a couple of K, my question is I thought to get max dps you should be running dual wield? The only problem is every time I try and equip a another one hand it drops my dps by almost 20k. The other weird thing is if I just unequip the one hand the dps goes up with just the dagger equipped. I'm sorry if that's a little confusing, but if confuses the hell out of me too lol. I'm on XBL now GT: JiggsForlano

well with the offhand you are taking an aditional swing and if its a slower weapon then its possible it will lower dps since you would hit faster with just the dagger. i guess the offhand stats would have to be similar or close for it to not affect dps. what are the stats on dagger and offhand weapon?
your best options for an offhand are a dagger with attack speed, lifesteal and crit damage/socket or an echoing fury (for the side benefit of increasing your mainhand's effective attack speed as well).

Socketed Wildwood: 558.2 dmg +281-350 poison damage 4% damage 185 strength 749 life after each kill 45% crit hit damage 23 xp per kill 1.40 attacks per sec
Off hand: The barber 966.2 dmg 516-609 fire damage 4% damage 232 strength 220 vit 73% crit hit damage .5% chance to inflict bleed for 1282-3044 damage over 5 secs 1.5 attacks per sec
Shield: Chivalry Depths (socketed) 723 armor 223 strength 179 vit +40 cold resistance
Now when I match the dagger and shield, and the shield isn't socketed, I'm doing 60k dps. If the shield is socketed with a flawless square ruby it takes me down 53.6dps lol wtf? With the dagger on main hand and wildwood on off hand (wildwood is socketed with flawless square emerald) I do 49.8k dps. And if I switch the two around putting wildwood on my main hand and barber on my off hand I still do 49.8k. I know the damage between the two weapons is over four hundred but how is the shield giving me a boost of over 10k dps when it doesn't "do" any damage itself?
